Recently started using templates with my business. This extender allows me to use bits that would otherwise not reach the template. A good solid tool that is well made and the machined surfaces are nicely polished the chuck fits tightly to the collet and I have had no problems at all with vibration or shaking .

Don’t buy this! It’s a lot bigger than I expected. I had to fabricate a 5/8†thick spacer between the table and the router bottomed out, just to clear the table. Otherwise it would have been sticking up past the table. I had a bad feeling about it, so I covered it with the plastic protection shield when I went to start it up thank God I did because it instantly bent and scraped up the bottom of my router table if I wouldn’t have had the guard down, it would’ve been like getting shot from a Game rifle! Plus, The way the wrench is designed, the bottom of your router bit has to be at least a half inch above the top of the collet. All bad.

I got it to use in a shop made router planer sled. I tightened my 1-14" diameter spoilboard bit in the collet extension before putting it in my router by using a crescent wrench on the nut on the bottom of the extension. However, the design of the provided wrench made it difficult (impossible, actually) to set my bit 3/4" deep in the extension's collet. But it was pretty close. I also set the extension fully into my router's 1/4" collet.I surfaced both sides of a 7.5' x 2' old growth for laminated workbench top that was a mess with hardened glue. I didn't make very deep cuts, but I didn't hold back on speed either. Each side required just one pass of 3/32" or more.I didn't experience any noticeable vibration or other undesirable performance issues with it. When I turned the speed up beyond half on my Freud FT1000E I did get some uneven cutting, so I turned it back. I really threw the jig together so it might be have some as yet undiscovered flaws.I'm inclined to think that if you use this conservatively, you'll have good results.

Bit worked as intended. Had to play with the spacing a little to make sure the tightening wrench fits consistently.

Used this with my leveling sled, did very well.

Product is solid, attaches easily and allows for easy attachment of router bits with the wrench. However, when I placed it in my router it caused a large vibration as if it was out of balance. It is a new small router table from Harbor Freight but it may not be able to handle the extension. I wish it would have worked as to make bit replacement easier. Don't know the cause of the excessive vibration.

After dealing with a number of poor (putting it politely) router extenders, I decided to get a precision unit...slight imbalances were causing my router sled to vibrate dangerously. This collet extension works perfectly. The quality of the machining shows in the smooth finish. The collets hold my router bits tightly. Even large bits spin without any vibration. Frankly, I wish there were routers which use ER20 collets as their main collet...these are orders of magnitude better than the standard collets. If you need a router bit extension collet, buy this one. It's not expensive and works great.

It seemed sturdy, but not sturdy enough for use on a router sled to flatten hard wood. In addition, the fastening design is not conducive to using a flattening bit as the wrench needs enough room to be removed, thus the bit spindle had to extend quite a ways out of the collet.

Exactly what I required for my DIY router sled to avoid having to lift the wood off the base. Seems very stable with my large flattening bit and well built. Ordered this one because it came with the wrench. Works as it should.
