Nice piece of kit, BUT the verical section is way too short. It seems to be made for a small mini-lathes. I purchased it to use with 1" dowling for wands. Big fail! I probably will send it back.

The tool post diameter was too large by about 30 thousandths, meaning that it didn't fit into the banjo on my delta lathe. I was able to bring it down with emery paper and elbow grease, but it is easy to get such a thing out-of-round (and thus out-of-square) making hand modifications like that. Fortunately, there are still concentric mill marks on the post surface and I could use them as a reference. I was surprised, because everything else about the construction was spot on.

If I raise the rest up to the point that the bolt can barely grab the post it is still not to the centre of the workpiece. A one inch post but length for a small lathe.

It has a very nice profile for support of the chisel and guiding hand placement. However the mounting shaft is slightly larger than the reported 1 inch requiring resizing to fit the lathe. If you have the ability to remove about 15 thou from the diameter of the shaft then it is a good rest.
