So I bought a cheapo lathe from HD and the tools it came with were terrible (shocker I know). So I got these for my son to use. He was amazed on how much easier it was, LOL. The tools are nice and sharp, he used them on an Oak billet (which is very hard wood). It cut through the wood perfectly. This is a good set for beginners. The case it comes with is also nice.

Price is great for what you get, but need more handles. One more handles would nice, but need two so that you are not changing tools all the time. Handles are 25.00 each or buy another set with two handles for 60.00

I've got a nice JET lathe and have some basic skills so far. This set interested me for the curved bowl blade I don't have one like that even though I have some good fixed handle cutters. The box is one of the best boxes I've seen in quite a while. Aluminum solid case and the foam inserts actually work as they should. The shafts slide out and lock in with two allen screws. All of my tools are fixed lenght and this is totally new - and I love it. For smaller work this are pretty precise and sharp out of the box. Extra screws an allen wrench and a small wrench are also included.Firing up the lathe with a scrap piece of wood and I used all of the tools. Being able to change the length is just too cool. The foam handle, which I sort of dismissed, is very confortable without losing your "control" that I have with wood handle tools. They all cut well with some ripping but I put that down to the wood more the blades. I'll try better wood next but I have no complaints at all. I'm not sure why the other end is threaded...I tried the sander attachment - it's round instead of square like the bladed spun right off twice while sanding until I realized what the wrench was for... problem solved. No need for this on flat sanding and I can't wait to try it on the interior of a bowl. I do need to find where to get replacement sandpaper and blades.For about $120 this is a great starter set and I would highly recommend this set to get going. The adjustable length concept is truly game changing.

I just recently got a lathe and these are the first tools I have used. They feel good in my hands and are easily maneuverable. They have a good weight which I feel is a strong positive for these kinds of tools. The heads can be swapped easily and everything can be cleaned after each use.

Very robust, worked very well out of the box, quality is good, handles are comfortable, adjustable lengths. Best part, the replaceable tips, you do need to worry about sharpening. The kit is complete with all required tips for solid work right out of the box!. Well worth it.

Unfortunately after only a few weeks one of the handles broke off right after the junction where you insert the the stainless bar that holds the blade aluminum was weak but fixable with epoxy after I cut it and removed the excess aluminum inside the black knob with the other carbide blade solution was not too difficult but it still broke
