Works perfectly for a 1999 Ford Taurus SE Wagon.I bought it because I noticed transmission fluid leaking around the front right area of my bumper. After tracking down where the fluid was coming from, I finally found that it was leaking from the transmission cooler line where it connects to the radiator (only leaks while the car runs which made it harder to find). It's a pain to get the old one out due to tight access (had to disconnect some coolant lines). Ultimately got it out and removed the stainless tubing from the connector (had to break the old plastic insert with a screwdriver to get it off). I wiped down the SS tube end, installed the new connector (wrench tight), and pushed the line into the connector (using vice grips to get a solid seat). I reconnected all of the other coolant lines and topped up the transmission fluid and radiator fluid (a lot leaked out when disconnecting coolant lines to get access to the connectors).Once everything was back together I put a new piece of cardboard under and started up the car. No leaks and it's been running smooth for a week (garage floor is dry every time I check).

These connectors come with no instructions. The tubing removal tool I bought (OTC 6593) was worthless. To remove the tubing, I ended up prying out the plastic inner lining from the old fitting with a couple of screwdrivers and a wire cutter. Then the old fitting was easily removed. No clue how tight to torque the new fitting - I even called Dorman and they had no information - the only information I found on the web said 12 - 18 ft lbs. Don't believe it! I tightened one about 3/8 " depth of thread, put back together, and it leaked from the threads (not the tubing). Removed it (had to empty the coolant and remove the lower radiator hose to get to the fitting). Destroyed the connector I just installed because I had to pry out the plastic lining to get the tubing out (luckily I bought two connectors). Installed the second one till the threading bottomed out - about the same depth as the original one - note that my torque wrench exceeded 80 ft lbs at this point. Put back into service - no leaks. Next time will be much easier - but if you have never done this before, it's a real pain.

This was a surprisingly good quality replacement for the transmission line connector on a stock 2002 Ford Taurus. You'll save a lot of skin on your knuckles and frustration if you also buy yourself a transmission line disconnect tool. This is a small tool that will slip over the steel transmission oil cooler line and slide up into the line connector to disengage the line from the fitting. Amazon sells at least two of them at and Finally, for an extra measure of frustration prevention the next time I need to service this unit, I applied a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads before installing this into my radiator.

Beware. If you have an aftermarket radiator this may not fit. My radiator was replaced by a body shop and these connectors started leaking. I had to destroy the plastic retaining clip to get the tube out, since none of the release tools I tried would work. Then I tried installing the new one and it did not have the same threads. Luckily my radiator had common 3/8 NPT threads so I was able use common plumbing parts and a piece of hose.
