Had a 40 year old set-up and needed something for the drive. It works, but is obviously made for small time projects and I found it slipped depending on the type of wood and pressure I applied. Can work for some applications and does what it is supposed to do.

My mini lathe did not include this. It makes a big difference in my ability to turn small items. I build fishing lures, and bobbers, and handles for micro rods. Excellent piece.

This drive spur changes your mini/mico lathe into a fantastic turning tool. Throw away the little screw on a stick that comes with the lathe or just use it and strip out your project as soon as the pressure is on the wood. I have machined ornate spindles in walnut using this spur no slippage on heavy cuts

Works perfectly on my mini lathe, it is meant for holding smaller things like pen blanks but has been holding up to pounding it into the blank with a hammer, holds the piece firmly which is pretty important.
