Children who master handwriting are better, more creative writers. The earlier we teach children to master handwriting, the more likely they are to succeed in school, and write with speed and ease in all subjects. We use fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instructional methods to enable children to master handwriting as an automatic and comfortable skill.
Writing Readiness
By playing, singing, and building letters, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students develop the important skills they need to print words, sentences, and paragraphs. You will teach grip, letter and number recognition, and capital and number formation.
Printing
Children learn to print using hands-on materials and developmentally appropriate activities. In grades 1–2, students progress to printing mastery with lessons that focus on functional writing practice.
Cursive
Our simple cursive style helps children transition easily from print. Using the same multisensory techniques, the cursive program begins in third grade when children have better developed hand-eye coordination.

We’ve used these books by Handwriting Without Tears for 3 kids and have loved them every time (aside from one exception). They teach exactly how to form letters, with fun graphics to the proper way: “slide down and up†with a picture of a slide, “magic câ€, bump the line like bumper cars). They’re the perfect small portions that aren’t too overwhelming. We usually do two pages a day. I used this yellow book for my 1st grader and it was just right. My older kids have gone through all the books. The only one I really disliked from this company was the cursive book - it’s terrible and doesn’t teach cursive with the correct slant that you need for flow, plus they added weird flat lines between letters than my son tried to imitate, plus the m’s and n’s are very confusing. Choose Cursive Logic instead. But for printing books, I love this brand!

I already purchased this previously along with the handwriting teacher's guide, but my child needed additional writing practice. So, this is the second time my kid is going through the workbook. It's fun enough that they don't mind. I love that the pages lay flat, and the pages are printed in black and white so it isn't distracting with too many colors. This is great for late kindergarten to first graders, and for our kid who needed some writing practice prior to starting second grade and the early months of starting first grade. It's a great workbook to maintain your kid's writing skills over the summer, or to keep them busy over school breaks.

I love these books, they're great for teaching handwriting to my homeschoolers! My teacher friend recommended them! I like how they teach letters together by similar shapes, rather than in alphabetical order. I also like that it builds on the skills without being boring and repetitive. Highly recommend

This is our third year using handwriting without tears for our writing program. I love the mutlisensory practice and music that is used along with the tools. It's an engaging program that my little enjoys.

Handwriting Without Tears books are amazing. They will have your children writing with the best handwriting. My oldest three used them in pre-K to first grade, and then with my 4th the school switched to a different handwriting curriculum. It was so inferior. I bought this off of Amazon and had her do this book at home. The teachers would comment on how great her handwriting was and it was 100% because of Handwriting Without Tears. You won't be disappointed with this book.
