No more pulling the chain. This switch has an on/off switch and a speed slider switch. Pull the fan switch chain to set the fan on high, and you will never have to use the chain again. Keep in mind that if you have a fan with a light kit (all of mine have light kits), you will need an extra hot lead run from the switch box to the ceiling box. I ran new 12/2 Romex at 5 different locations in my house, but probably would have been better to use the existing cable to pull in a 12/3 Romex. Then I replaced the existing single-gang wall switch boxes with 2-gang old-work plastic boxes. It can be difficult to reroute the existing cables into the new box. This is all labor intensive since the original Romex cables are stapled to the stud inside the wall a few inches above the wall-switch box. An electrician would have charged in the thousand$$ for a job like this. But, once installed, this switch works flawlessly to control a standard 3-speed pull chain ceiling fan. I used similar Lutron switches in some of the locations. Either brand is an excellent choice, but the Lutron brand might be easier to find.

Got tired of standing on the bed to use the pull chain to control the ceiling fan speed. Replaced a simple on-off wall switch with this one and now I can set 3 speeds from the wall, as well as turn the fan on-off. Wiring was simple (single pole) remembering to shut off the power breaker to the fan before replacing. This wall control works fine with this Hunter fan but should also work with any other ceiling fan brand.

Replaced six old controls throughout the house. Old Hunter tabs had broken off. These are much better designed, slide easily and were very easy to install. I actually purchased all used units, ranging from "Like New" to "Good" condition for a greatly-reduced price. All of the units appeared to be never used (wire tips intact) and in perfect condition. Highly recommended.

I've bought these many times from different retailers. And they work excellent.However ...The last time I got these in the two pack, one of them has a sticky/catchy slider and does not operate smoothly.

Fan control has 3 positions.Low- doesn't work. Fan will not turn. Only groansMedium - works, but fan speed is only slightly below high setting. Still very loud.High - Fan runs at maximum speed and is loud.
