Many big box stores have fan switches (usually only three speed) but they are not rated with sufficient amperage. My Kenroy fan is2.5 amps and I needed this 5 amp switch. What is really nice, it's variable speed and not just fixed speeds and you can dial inthe speed of your fan that you desire. Yes, there is a slight hum at low speeds, but that is to be expected and I usually do notuse the lowest speed anyhow. I found the price to be more competitive than similar switches.

The switch is listed as a three speed switch with low, medium, or high. It is not! It is a continuous variable switch. It also makes a horrible buzzing sound. Maybe this doesn't cause a buzzing on some fans, but I have two fans in a room and the other has an older dimmer that is completely silent. Stay away from this one!

Replaced standard on/off switch to my fireplace blowers with this variable speed model. Now I can dial down the rpm's and finally hear the TV not at full blast. Matches the ivory wall plate. Perfect. I

No matter what speed I put the pull chain on the fan hums with this switch. It replaced a high/medium/low fan switch - no hum with that one. Won’t ever purchase a rotary fan dimmer again.

The Lutron FS-5FH-DK Rotary fan speed control switches look clean, all white or beige, easy to install, great fit an replacement for the 20 year old 3 speed fan control switche originally installed. However the fan motors are much louder with the new switches!! It has an annoying hummmmmmmmming noise.

This unit handled my three fans ok but it does cause a slight hum from one of the fans (they are not all the same fan). Otherwise it works as expected and the hum from one fan is not objectionable.

This control installed easily and provides smooth, continuous speed control rather than just having three speeds. Seems to work great so far.
