Each kit is housed in a zippered carrying case for easy portability and contains the following corrosion resistant stainless steel instruments: (1) Stainless high precision needle-nose tweezers; (1) Stainless straight-blade scissors; (1) Stainless knife w/ integrated blade; (1) Stainless inoculation loop; (1) Stainless grooved scalpel handle #3 w/ metric ruler; (1) Stainless flat scalpel handle #7; (4) Stainless #10 sterile scalpel blades. CLEANING YOUR INSTRUMENTS: To maintain the integrity of your stainless steel instruments, always clean using the following protocol: Rinse off any fluids or tissues with water; Manually clean instruments with a soft plastic brush and a pH neutral detergent. (Never use steel wool or wire brushes.); Thoroughly dry instruments with a clean towel. (This will minimize the risk of corrosion and water spots.) CAUTIONS & CONSIDERATIONS: CUT HAZARD. SHARP BLADES. Improper use or contact may result in injury. Always keep blades away from fingers and body. Do not use if blades are dull or otherwise damaged or if the handle is broken or loose. Do not pick up by the blade. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. When not in use, store in its case or a safe place. To avoid accidental cuts, ALWAYS use forceps, needle holders, or other engineering controls when changing or manipulating blades. Cuts from scalpel blades are one of the most common sharps injuries in the lab. Place used blades in a sharps container and dispose of them according to local guidelines. To prevent contamination, always sterilize your instruments before use.

I absolutely love this set geared specifically towards mycology vs other sets on Amazon for dissection which contains unnecessary tools. The matte finish is a nice touch, and the tools appear to be quality. I like that they added multiple size scalpels, especially one with a longer handle. Added blades, as well as the little guide were appreciated. You can tell that North Spore put some thought behind the design, and each item put into this kit. The price isn't as cheap as some other non-mycology sets, but it's well worth it.

These are not flimsy tools. They are extremely well crafted. I use the scalpel holder to stir clumped grains like rice for my cordyceps. The one piece blade has been the most versatile. Scissors are sharp and cut bags without issues. These are professional level tools not “home hobby†stuff.

The only think that I feel like doesn’t work too well is the zipper to open the case. It’s a bit of a hassle to try and zip open the case sometimes and it also came with some stain. Other than that the products are pretty good.
