Excellent compatibility with all flavors of PIC and excellent application support for this product. Be prepared to wait for delivery.

This appears to be an after-market product with at least one functional flaw: It cannot read VDD greater than 4.75 Volts. If one attempts to perform in-circuit programming with this Pickit-3 supplying VDD greater than 4.75 Volts, the programmer will not read the expected applied voltage and programming will not continue. A solution is to set VDD to 4.75 Volts or less. This flaw was observed with two separate units purchased months apart from the same source.

Unit worked fine. I ordered two more (for backup) but from a different vendor. The other vendor sent me two units, where packaging says PICKIT3 but the sealed package contains a PICKIT2! Will write review for other vendor with picture included. Then this unit failed, which is when I opened up one of the backup units only to discover a PICKIT2, which didn't work.

It failed to program the PIC Micro. Spent hours trying to figure out why, then gave up and ordered one from microchip direct. Worked first time. Returned the unit.

The programmer worked well at first. Then it became intermittent...sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Then it quit completely. For the first few days I was really happy with the device, then irritated in the intermittent nature and finally disappointed when it quit completely.

I still haven't been able to see if it will do in-circuit debugging, but it's as compatible as anything else at programming.

Returned and bought a real one direct from microchip, had no further problems.
