Easy to use and read. Hopefully I will never need it, but it does bring peace of mind to have it handy. Easily packable and carry in an emergency bag.

I keep this in my survival bag as a way to test water and food in an emergency. I like that this will store the cumulative dose just like the electronic dosimetry I used while working in nuclear work.

The XLA Alert Portable Geiger Counter Nuclear Radiation Detector offers peace of mind with its compact design and radiation detection capabilities. However, its user interface may leave some scratching their heads.Upon initial use, I found myself struggling to navigate its functions effectively. The device seems straightforward at first glance, with a color-changing circle indicating radiation levels—green for safe and red for unsafe. This feature provides a quick visual cue for assessing radiation risk, which is undoubtedly valuable in potentially hazardous situations.Unfortunately, beyond this basic indication, the functionality becomes less intuitive. The up and down arrows, presumably intended for adjusting settings or navigating menus, appear non-responsive or poorly documented in the instructions. Despite multiple readings, I couldn't decipher their intended purpose, leaving me frustrated and questioning the device's full capabilities. While the simplicity of the color indicator is appreciated, the lack of clarity in utilizing other features detracts from the overall user experience. For those seeking a straightforward radiation detector, the XLA Alert may suffice. However, for users desiring more advanced functionality or ease of use, further instruction or device refinement may be necessary.

My husband has a portable radiation detector but I got this one since it has so many extra features that his does not. First, I want to make sure that it’s clear that it is only one detector. I don’t know why there are 2 in the first photo, it feels deceiving and I did originally believe I was getting 2 when in fact it is only one that you receive. If the photo showed the front and the back I could understand, but showing 2 detectors from the front clearly makes it seem like the price is for 2. Ok, that stated the detector itself is great! It has a very detailed charting system, you can set alarms, and I like that it has a one year warranty. So far we scanned some things around the house, but my husband wanted this for more of an emergency type situation and having this makes him feel prepared if such an emergency occurs. Excellent price, even if it is for only one, as it’s a very high end radiation detector with lots of bells and whistles!

Nice little Rad meter that has a very annoying alarm sound when it hits the set limit. It appears to be accurately measuring ambient radiation, and higher levels of radiation produced by radium. It is small enough it might be able to be used in a Pip-boy cosplay for the radiation meter!

Handy device for keeping in the bugout kit or in the house if you live close to a nuclear power plant. This radiation detector can detect ionizing radiation such as gamma, beta and X-rays. You can tailor the alarm for current exposure or cumulative exposure and it will go off once those limits are reached.I find these also handy for folks that work in healthcare and are exposed to radiation on a regular basis - it can tell you about leakage outside of the X-ray room (if there is any) and how much you're being exposed to in the Operating Room. Typically, you don a lead-lined apron and a thyroid protector, but the rest of your body is exposed to radiation - this can keep track of those levels along with the dosimeter typically worn. I think this is a good device to keep handy in today's day/age.
