I love this tape ! I use it in my classroom to tape up posters, to tape down name plates, and to tape the corners of boxes like the sight words bingo box and the happy hats game the kids use for learning games.

Now I know how librarians fix book covers so well; I only wish I'd known about it a decade ago when my dear little angels commenced their course of destruction. I ordered this specifically to repair a fifteen year old copy of purchased at Harrod's on a trip to London the week of Thanksgiving after 9/11. Its souvenir value is high (not to mention its dollar value in the USA), plus I enjoy reading and explaining the Anglicisms to my kids - car "bonnets" and "boots" and such. Unfortunately, this little paperback was never intended to be read a dozen times over the course of 15 years, let alone slept on by fanlings. It's falling apart. Enter Scotch Book Tape! Wide, clear and guaranteed not to discolor with age. I covered the cover with multiple adjacent strips of this stuff. It's sturdy and attractive, and actually improved the book as far as I'm concerned. At any rate it can now be read another dozen times.

My favorite thing about this tape is that it is barely noticeable on paperback books. I have many books from the 70's that would be nearly impossible to replace now. I read some of my favorites over and over again. After 50 years many of my paperback books are pretty worn out. Some I've had to glue the pages back and I was using regular scotch tape for the binders. The tape would eventually crack at the seams and I'd have to do it again. This tape is flexible, clear and thin. The 2" is great for smaller older books. In the old days writers didn't write as many large stories as they do today. Newer books, after the 90's require wider tape, the 3" is perfect.

The adhesion is strong and the tape itself is clear and strong without being bulky. I have used this product for years for books and preserving documents that needed protection but could not be otherwise sealed.I have used to protect labels on products that were going to be in storage for periods of time.Note the tape should not be expected to last for long, days and days, of direct sunlight. It is not UV protected,

Bought this tape to extend the life of my paperback books as well as keep my college paperback textbooks from looking like death at the end of the semester. It is heavenly. After applying to a few of my college textbooks I can tell my textbook won’t look like trash come the end of the semester and that I’ll be able to keep my favorite texts for future reference without worrying about them being too damaged to use.Be warned, this tape is super sticky and thick and will take a bit of a learning curve to learn. How to videos are wonderful on YouTube. Great tape for reinforcing the spine and cover edges of paperback books.

My kids lose and tear books like ground squirrels making a nest. That being said, this I bought for our patient child loving librarian at our local library. Sighs... my kids and books. And she kindly repairs them, and very well. I'll be buying one at least once a year. This is the one she preferred, so it's what she gets. She was quite grateful when I brought it. I would repair them, but I made things worse once. It's not as easy as you would think, if not for the reflection of the tape, you'd never known she repaired it.

This is the tape most generally used in libraries and archives to repair damaged books. It doesn't discolour or go brittle as Sellotape does, and is completely transparent, so doesn't disguise lettering or images on the boards. I've been using it for many years.
