About this item

  • The camera adapter kit for prime focus;in this imaging method the camera is connected directly to the telescope and placed at the "prime" focus of the telescope;the telescope becomes the camera lens. no eyepiece is used in this method;this method provides the widest possible field of view, the shortest possible exposure time and moderate magnification;typically used for imaging nebulae; galaxies and other large (but dim) deep sky objects
  • The camera adapter kit for eyepiece projection;in this imaging method an eyepiece is used to increase magnification;the eyepiece is placed between the camera and the telescope;the eyepiece “projects” the image onto the camera sensor;the projected image size increases with distance;similar to a flashlights beam
  • Fits telescopes with a standard 1.25" eyepiece port;the adapter can hold eyepieces up to 42mm in upper body diameter; it also features a laser engraved extension scale for recordability and repeatability as well as a large machined grip ring;for a sure grip in even the worst dew conditions
  • The variable feature lets you adjust the adapter length to vary the magnification (thus image size) for perfect framing of your shots; fits telescopes with a standard 1.25" eyepiece port.the 1.25" barrel is threaded to accept standard 1.25" eyepiece filters
  • Additional parts may be required to reach photographic focus with certain telescope types;SCTs and MAKs generally have enough focus range without any additional optical or physical extensions;reflector type telescopes will typically require the use of a barlow lens;refractor type telescopes will typically require the use of an extension tube;the eyepiece upper barrel can be no larger than 42mm in diameter

Product Description

Eyepiece Projection Adapter

This Deluxe kit includes the parts you will need for both "Prime Focus" and Variable "Eyepiece Projection" The "Variable" feature lets you adjust the adapter length to vary the magnification (thus image size) for perfect framing of your shots. Fits telescopes with a standard 1.25" eyepiece port.

The adapter can hold eyepieces up to 42mm in upper body diameter. It also features a laser engraved extension scale for recordability and repeatability as well as a large machined grip ring.for a sure grip in even the worst dew conditions. CNC machined of aluminum with a durable black anodized finish. The 1.25" barrel is threaded to accept standard 1.25" Eyepiece Filters.

Reflectors typically require a barlow lens to be placed between the adapter and focuser to extend the focus point.

Refractors typically require you to replace the diagonal with a slightly shorter extension tube to reach focus. this is true of any adapter.

most SCTs and MAKs won't require anything else

Prime Focus Application: typically used for imaging nebulae; galaxies and other large (but dim) deep sky objects

Eyepiece Projection & Variable Eyepiece Projection Eyepiece Projection is typically used for Terrestrial, Lunar & Planetary imaging and any time higher magnification is needed to bring out detail

Eyepiece Diameter: Compatible maximum eyepiece diameter is 42 mm.It can handle larger eyepieces (to 42mm Max Dia), has a handy laser engraved Extension Scale and a machined Grip Ring

Eyepiece Projection Adapter

Variable

The "Variable" feature lets you adjust the adapter length to vary the magnification (thus image size) for perfect framing of your shots.

CNC machining

CNC machined of aluminum with a durable black anodized finish. The metal material makes the Deluxe Variable Eyepiece Projection Kit for Telescopes more durable. It will stay with you for a long time

Eyepiece Projection Adapter

Can be connected to the telescope

This extension tube works as designed and is a pretty good value when compared to its competitors. However, be aware of the orientation of the compression ring. These units ship in such a way that the gap in the compression ring is directly over the screw so that the screw can go in all the way in order to fit in the enclosed plastic tube. Before you use this, it is important that you rotate the compression ring in such a way that the opening is not directly over the screw. Otherwise entire reason of adding the compression ring in the first place will be defeated and the screw could damage your eyepiece.Pros:Good extension tube for the price that works as expected.Cons:Shoddy compression ring design. There's absolutely no documentation included saying that it's important to rotate the compression ring before using it. If the enclosed plastic cases were just a little bit larger the extension tube could fit in the case without having to do this. This comes across to me as a cheap manufacturing shortcut that SVbony needs to rectify in the future.

I needed something for eyepiece projection because getting camera in focus on 4.5" Newtonian was proving to be too much trouble otherwise. This works, though you may need to experiment with eyepieces (my best results thus far are with 25mm).Some potential quirks: mind the balance and positioning of your telescope. Even with small mirrorless Canon M200, it ends up being a quite a bit of mass dangling off-center. The screw securing the eyepiece is prone to pushing the eyepiece to the side, which isn't great.

Could not insert eyepiece as the compression ring was badly deformed.

works fine for large tall/long eyepieces like 32mmfinally able to get the enormous field of view that ive wanted with my camera! and without a barlowNot suitable for small eyepieces unless your telescope has an incredible focus range
