I got this detector because it comes with a snap-on mounted UV flashlight. Before I was using UV dies exclusively to visually locate leaks. It works extremely well on the pipes (bad brazing, leaky valves) but not precisely on evaporators or condensers which by definition have a huge area for die to settle and hence it's hard to pinpoint the exact location. This tool runs on 4 batteries and is very simple to use. Once you set the sensitivity knob to the desired level it will start beeping and flashing red LED. The closer you bring the tip of the sensor to the leak the higher frequency of the beeping will be. Small flashlight snaps on to the gooseneck. It has UV and regular lighting modes. Detector came with a nice belt mounted carrying case.

The WJL-6000 Pro Freon Halogen Tester is an excellent tool for detecting halogen gas leaks with impressive accuracy and reliability. Designed for use with various refrigerants like R134a, R410a, and R22a, this tester quickly identifies even the smallest leaks, as demonstrated when it successfully pinpointed a tiny leak at the Schrader valve in an R134a system. The indicator light provides clear and immediate feedback, making it easy to use for HVAC professionals and DIYers alike. Compact and efficient, this leak detector is a must-have for maintaining air conditioning and refrigeration systems with confidence.

Works great, takes only 60 seconds to warm up, found the leak within 30 seconds of first use, replaced the faulty o-ring on the low pressure side of the firewall, and then it was done!
