Comes with a drill bit but if replacing a existing one you will need to buy a 5/8's drill bit. Works great easy to install, I just used a quarter to tighten it down. I will be buying again. Great price for value. My family loves the extra added security!

This peephole kit comes with the appropriate sized hole saw bit. That is probably what sells the kit. There are no instructions included with the kit, but figuring it out isn’t rocket science. However, drilling a straight hole through one’s door isn’t something most DYI- ers can do. A few degrees off and your peephole won’t seat flush! There are only two ways to compensate for this. Either enlarge the hole, which would be fine if the outer rims of the peephole allowed for a larger hole or came with a washer-like addition to fill in the new hole. Second is to make your own gasket to fit around the outside section and tighten it down. It won’t be flush with the door, but it will be sealed from the outside. I choose the gasket method in the end. If enlarger washers and sealing gaskets were included in the kit, it would be an easy-peasy, five star product in regards to installation. Since I have had no visitors since installing my peepholes, I cannot attest to the range of visibility they provide. That few degrees of being off may affect the degree of sight as well.

Love the ability to see, for a wide range, in the hallway beyond my door. I am deeply grateful for this great peephole. Another tenant, screaming/yelling in the hallway a few weeks ago, was pounding on my door. A fellow tenant engaged him, and got him away. Now I feel safer, as I can tell whomever is outside my door, and call the office for assistance.

I installed these on my camper walls and they were great. I love that it comes with the bit to make the hole.
