Used this kit for my vintage Jensen LS-4b speakers. Worked great thanks to Springfield Speaker Repair listing all the dimensions! At first, I was looking for Jensen replacement, which has green color surround. No such thing. So realizing I got to go aftermarket in any color, so as long it fits. They fit like a glove. Didn't take too long to go through all available brands and sizes. Shipping was quick and install didn't take a long time. On the contrary, I wish this kit included voice coil shims and dust cap. Bought the logo dust cap separate from same place, still no shims. I used shims from previous project, not wanting to trust the "non-shim" method, that's why the expensive dust cap. It also, worked great! The cap kit came with the white, water clean-up, squeeze bottle glue, which was needed for my paper cones and cap. The other, clear-yellow, stinky glue I used on the outer, foam-to-basket edge, which is more suitable for that. After all, the drivers came out clean. Look like never been repaired, new Cerwin Vega drivers. But these are Jensen, and sound awesome! Good suspension stiffness, very durable, thick foam. The price is somewhat high, but after all, kits worked prefect, straightforward install saved me time, plus Cerwin Vega makes quality products. Can't complain getting a brand name, even a logo on the cap. I would definitely buy again if needed for some other speakers. Thank you for detailed sizing info, Springfield Speaker! You rock!

My Cerwin Vega speakers had been rattling for a while, and I started noticing bits of light orange foam on the floor. Unfortunately, the foam surrounding the woofers had been deteriorating for some time. I found this kit on Amazon along with enough instructions to show that replacing them wasn't especially difficult. The $28 or so that this kit costs (and it comes with everything you need except tools) is way cheaper than what an audio shop is going to charge to do this for you.It came with an ample supply of the special adhesive, was packaged very well so that the delicate parts were well protected, and referred me to the website for video and written instructions for doing the installation. I'd advise watching the video AND printing the instructions and being well acquainted with both before doing anything else. Also, make sure you have a set of allen wrenches, a small chisel, some Q-Tips, rubbing alcohol, and paper towels or soft cloths. You'll need all of these. The chisel was actually more essential than you'd think for removing the old stuff -- but be careful about not scraping up the metal too badly. This entire job was quoted as taking "about an hour per speaker" but because it was such a pain to remove the old adhesive and all of the foam, it took me a good bit more than an hour for the first speaker and closer to but still over an hour for the second one. That doesn't include drying time, which you'll be doing twice -- once for about an hour for gluing it to one side, and then minimum 24 hours after gluing the other side for the whole thing to completely dry.None of it was complicated at all, or conceptually difficult. It was super easy to unscrew (using an allen wrench) the woofer assembly from the wood cabinet, which was 4 screws, and then unplug the two wires from it and note which side the striped one is connected to... + or -. From there, you're just taking off the old stuff, cleaning it up, and gluing the new piece on. Simple -- but the challenge is in getting all of the old stuff off. You will toil at that for a really long time, as it advises to get EVERY BIT of the old foam off. It doesn't come easy!! I was peeling, chiseling, wiping, chiseling, etc. and in the end HOPING I had it sufficiently clean. That's really the only tough part. I did it while watching TV, because I was sitting for a while. Finally, the instructions (video and written) advise using a smartphone/tablet app (a tone generator) for generating a tone while the woofer is connected to a receiver (which the smartphone is the input) in order to perfectly position the cone as you're gluing it down. I realize this is probably a really good idea. I sort of risked not being perfect and just went with how it most naturally fell... Probably not the best route to take, but by the time I was doing this step, I was worn out and not in the mood for what I should have been doing (i.e., looking for the right cables and such for my phone to attach to the receiver). Luckily, it all seems to work as it should and sounds fine. The consequence of a mis-centered cone is said to be that it rattles to differing degrees when sound is coming through it. I haven't noted any rattling so perhaps I lucked into the right positioning. Still, if I were to do this again, I'd probably follow the advice and use the tone generator. I'd advise you to do that as well.So... have all the right tools and cleaning stuff (alcohol/Q-tips), get the tone generator app (Free) and the right cable to hook up your phone, and save yourself a lot of money by using this kit. Nothing they could have done would have made it any easier, because the challenges are inherent to the process regardless of what DIY kit you buy. This one is as inexpensive as they get, and from what I can tell, the quality is good and some of the other kits use lower quality materials and adhesive. It worked for me. Whether to do it yourself at all will depend on how willing you are to put the time into cleaning it up as you go. It wasn't *hard* to do, just very time consuming. Because you can do the time consuming part as a mindless activity while you're watching a movie or TV, it isn't as if you've totally lost that time. I think it is worth just doing yourself, but that's my cheapskate nature speaking. But if you are doing it yourself, this seems to be the best kit to buy.

These surrounds are perfect for my Cerwin Vega DX-3 speakers. Gave 4-stars because: 1- the pictures in instructions are too dark and fuzzy to be of much use to a novice. 2- They really should include instructions for centering the voice coil when replacing the surrounds. They say stuff about not having to remove the dust caps, but I had no idea why that was a "good" thing. The surrounds I removed this time were perfectly good, but when I previously did the repair, I didn't even know anything about voice coils, let alone that they need special care to be centered. I was getting no bass and scratchy sound out of my DX-3s. After ripping my hair out thinking I had somehow ruined my speakers, I asked an online forum and found out about voice coil centering. Who knew? So I had to rip apart the original repair to redo it. 2 sets of surrounds when I could have used just 1 set if someone had guided me.Having said that, I'll add that Springfield's YouTube video about centering the voice coils was very good, so they partially redeemed themselves, earning one star up from my intended 3-star review.

If indeed you have worn surrounds with your Cerwin Vega 10" Classic 1990 speakers this surround kit will take care of your worn out surrounds. Had never done a repair on speakers and found if you follow directions - use YouTube instructions and take it slow and easy it will turn out just fine and sound brand new...Only time consuming was taking the old glue off the speaker rim. But give yourself a couple hours on a pair of speakers and it will be worth it. To have it done was quoted at over a $100. Seriously, You can easily do this yourself, Just do the homework. Great new surrounds... Making the speaker system as good as new! You'll be impressed at yourself once they are replaced and you first hook them back up....Again,. I had never attempted this kind of repair and it went just as I had hoped.Just follow all directions closely! Glad I went this route!

I had ordered these to replace the old ones on my speakers. There was a small issue with my order when it arrived and the seller was very quick to fix the issue and very responsive. They went above and beyond. The instructions are very clear and easy to understand and the products are easy to use. I will definitely be buying from this business again!!
