When I purchased this it said 1/2 in. I didn't realize that dimension included the lip. It is very shiny

I am hand sewing this to make an outline on a costume. The weave is flexible and adaptable, like bias tape. The silver edge is bright and has been sturdy enough to look as good as new after alot of adjusting and handling as I sew it on. I'd say don't be off put by the fact it arrives as depicted wound without a spool. This saves packaging material, leaves less stuff to throw away, and has had no effect on the application. I'm glad I found this!
