Harkening back to my college days working at a smoothie bar, I always keep a small bucket of food grade sanitizer next to the sink, where I leave all of my scrub brushes and sponges to prevent them from growing something nasty or harmful in between uses. I remember that we used to use a powdered, chlorine-based sanitizer that we would mix into a little red bucket. Today, my sanitizer comes in little tablets that dissolve into the water. Without much thought, I ordered these test strips to see if I could determine the shelf life of my sanitizing solution so I would know when I should dump it out and mix up a new batch.Unfortunately, what I didn't remember at the time was that the sanitizer I use today is based on quaternary ammonia, not chlorine. The strips obviously had no reaction to it.Not wanting this to be a total waste of everyone's time, I did some research online and found that a chlorine solution of between 50 and 200 ppm is appropriate for sanitizing. So, I went ahead and grabbed some bleach and a small bucket and started mixing and testing. Yes, these strips work and they work quite well. I was able to quickly get my solution within the appropriate range for use as a food-safe sanitizer. I cannot say whether the measurement truly corresponds to the color on the strip as I don't have any accurate way of corroborating the ppm of chlorine in the solution. I suppose I could do some math based on the percentage of sodium hypochlorite in the bleach and the amount of water, but my bleach has been sitting in my garage for almost 2 years, so that's not going to be accurate either.Suffice it to say, I trust that these strips are reading the chlorine concentration accurately and can see them really coming in handy in situations where one may need to, say, sanitize, disinfect, or even make water drinkable in an emergency using chlorine. They are easy to read, they don't cost very much and will last for well over a year on the shelf. Cool product. I wish I could've used it as I had initially intended, but c'est la vie.

The strips are quick and easy to use. They provide a basic understanding of the chlorine in your water but require some interpretation if you are looking for specific levels that don't perfectly match the colors. My application was really as simple as "Does this, or does this not, contain chlorine?" And for that, they were a win!

Use to verify the chlorine in the rinse cycle of the commercial dishwasher. I understand why they make them stuck together, but I wish they were "single serve" so it would be easier to get one out one handed. The whole strip is like litmus paper-so you could dip one end, dip the other end but you do get so many in the container you don't need to try and conserve. The color shading on the side does seem to be an accurate representation of the concentration. My health inspector will be happy to see we have at all the dish stations.

These test strips come in canisters, and are held together in bunches. You simply peel off a test strip, just as you would a sticky note, then dip it in the solution to be tested; quickly remove it, daub off excess then check the color against the included chart. It is a quick and easy process, however I am left needing to trust that their strips and charts function correctly. I cannot independently verify that the solution is 'so many parts per million' just because the strip says so. So yes, I have to trust. And actually, why would anyone make test strips that are not accurate? So I assume that they are.

Chlorine is a big problem with our water. We have plants and multiple things we use water for. I need to test our water to make sure I have the right amount of chlorine for what we are using. This has been a life saver for our pool and plants! The test strip read accurately, and the color is exactly what they have on the tube. So easy to just dip and read. Good quality and great for what you pay for.

These Chlorine Test Strips are packaged nicely, and are easy to remove one strip at a time from one of the two bundles held together on one end with some kind of sticky paper.Typically, for sanitizing food contact surfaces, you want 50-100 ppm chlorine, gotten by diluting bleach with water. As you can see from the picture, the solution we tested was approximately 50 ppm.Per our reading, a concentration higher than 100 ppm can be harmful and unnecessary. It was VERY surprising to us the SMALL amount of bleach put in the water it took to get the 50 ppm, so it is essential to use test strips to insure the correct mixture!

Works like a charm and gave me peace of mind. I conducted a water test on our residence using another water test that was supposed to discover many different minerals, and chlorine came up very dark. I got this to recheck it and the chlorine is just fine. I’ll have my water company check behind me just to be on the safe side.

These turned black instantly when exposed to my Clorox Anywhere HCOL, though my other test strips of a different type suggest that the HCOL may be a bit lower than 200. I don't have a way to decid who's right. These strips come bound, like the pages of a note pad so you have to take a pad of strips out and tear one off. Not terrible, but different than I'm used to with other strips. The whole paper is the test strip, not jus a little pad on a plastic strip.
