Forget nail guard plates. These things make for a super clean install. They can be installed before or after wiring is ran. No worries of bump outs in your wall from bulky nail plates. To each their own.. but no more nail plates for me.

Great addition to doing electrical work. No more need for using plates to protect wiring or smaller pex.

All the photos are showing the guard 90 degrees out of the correct orientation. The slot should face up

I am a general contractor. So glad I found these for a million reasons;1. Length doesn’t matter, despite them being 2.5†they can easily be cut off with metal sawzall blade if you would like once inserted in the stud. When insulating a bay you need to run insulation around your wires anyways so the extra length doesn’t really present an issue any ways.2. No more planing a channel out for cover plates to eliminate drywall bumps.3. Would these pass inspection? I don’t know, but if you have a sensible inspector it is easy to see that these are superior to the standard nailing plate if you put one in his hands.3. These make pulling wires WAY SMOOTHER. I ran as many as four 14-3 romex wires through them with ease (not suggested for inspection purposes but that half a wire per hole roll is ridiculous).4. Easily embed and embed well. Often with the flat plates if you don’t get them on the first wack, they become useless.5. My wires are protected on both sides of the stud with one application. Additionally when running wire through studs with a finished wall on the other side, I now have protection where I otherwise would not have been able to get a nailing plate.6. For going through multiple studs, crimp one end of one protector with channel locks such that it slides into the other. Test before placing through holes. Intermediate studs through runs longer than 5†must be protected with a standard nailing plate.

Nail Guard is much too long for a standard 2x4. Not long enough for doubled 2x4 or lengthwise use. All the photo's on the website only show the guard from one side, none of the photo's show how far it sticks out the other end. Nail guard is approx 0.06 in thick (1.7mm), but there is some thickness variations. Didn't install any, but it looks like it needs a 1" diameter hole to fit into. There are no instructions in the box on what size hole they recommend. You could use it if you don't care how far it sticks out the other side, but when you need to bend the wire to get to any electrical box you'll have to watch how you bend it so the wire isn't sitting on the edge of the nail guard. I chose to send them back, just don't like the guard sticking out that far. Wasn't interested in cutting them down to fit flush. You'll have to decide how willing you are to use them.

This is perfect for our new house build. Don’t have to use the plate covers where electrical lines are because of this item

Would not bite into the wood. I had to return.

Does the job. They are longer than a stud's width but that does not matter and they will be covered anyways.
