The ones I looked at in the store were labeled 1 inch, but they only sold three to a pack. I needed more so I ordered from Amazon.However, on reflection, I think it was one inch from the top of the hook to where the screw meets the wall. The screw part would make it a little longer.THESE measure 1 inch from the top of the hook to the tip of the screw. In addition, the actual hook is smaller than one in the store that is labeled 1 inch.They are still sturdy and well made. I used them for hanging a set of string solar lights and the worked great
