So far this is worth every penny. For interfacing with the rasPi, I found it to work much better using the NOT A and B connection, where the lines are normally high, and pulses are falling edges. Wrote a quick app using libgpio to verify operation, and so far seems very accurate, not missing any pulses, and provides clean square wave outputs (ie no denouncing required).

Feels very solid. Connected it to 5v. Very clean pulses. Great product.

They look good, but do not turn all the way around without a serious bind. No way am I going to be able to do anything with them except for mock-ups until I get better quality units.

I have had four of these units fail out of the box. The quality control is terrible. All of the failures were different. Hard to turn, missing B pulses, overheats and stops working. missing A pulses.Terrible product.

bought for smooth rotation, no notches. it has notches and is not a smooth rotation.

Just opened the box and performed a quick test. I like the clicking detent. The other review I see didn’t like it. But, I would expect to have the click. Only complaint is a few blemishes in the aluminum. But, not a huge concern. I will update this review if I find any problems.
