Seem to work just fine as over voltage protection for 5 volt sources. Your experience may vary. A current limiting, but more expensive board, is better if you are prone to such things like me. I also tend to pair these with a PTC, and a Schottky for additional protection. If you use these at least have a fuse, or way to figure out that they have triggered. Because they are guaranteed to get hot if you get close.

I used these zenner diodes to protect MOSFETs in the battery spot welder from being blown up by inductive transient voltage. Working OK.

Looks like a good product! The only problem was when received the envelope package was sliced open about 8†and was a very clean and straight cut and I was surprised the items I ordered were still enclosed!

I noticed very little forward current until you get to within 10 volts or so of the zener voltage. I only used two so far and the zener voltage for them was within three volts of the 180V rating. This is within spec for this part.

Used one to rebuild the power supply on a vintage Vox electric organ. Works fine. Tested on my Fluke meter before installing, since this is a mystery component from an unknown manufacturer.
