Don't think it was stated in the description anywhere, but there are only grooves on one side of the wood. One of the pieces had no grooves at all, but the seller gave me a partial refund so I can't complain.

Nice small set for connectors. My son builds large tracks and always needs more male/male and female/female connectors. The pieces are about the same quality as all our other sets. These pieces fit with our large set - which is a mix of multiple brands. However the QC isn't great - I got two of the same pieces for one of the cross intersections and so can't use those two. It's not that big of a set so I would expect all the pieces to be correct.

I’ve found that there are slight variances in length of pieces from one manufacturer to another. Stick with one source if you’re making a large layout. These are great quality with smooth edges
