I didn't like these finger protectors at all. They DO NOT Work AT All, the heat comes right through the protectors. I wanted to return them but I wasn't able to bring them back. I was too sick. Such a bummer. And I have to continue my search for heat protection (hot glue gun).

To prevent fraying after making a cut, or for fusing paracord, you heat the cord with a lighter or torch until it melts. After cutting, you melt and then pinch to seal the end. You can use a small pair of pliers for this. To fuse, you press two heated ends together and roll between your fingers. Typically, you can allow it to cool slightly before touching to avoid burning yourself, but it's hard to judge the temperature. I got these after burning myself with molten nylon one too many times. They've been a lifesaver (or at least a blister saver) many times now. It's also really easy to use them to roll a single end into a point in order to more easily thread it, or screw a fid onto it.
