We had below freezing temps for several weeks and needed to wrap our water pipes. This works well.

Cord plug lightning up was only indication it was powered. Cord did not heat up.

I wrap a rubber bungee around my inverted 5 gallon tray chicken waterer, and wrap this around the barrel and lay some in the tray in the water, it keeps it from freezing and doesn’t “heat†the water like others do.

Wish it told you which end needs to be exposed so that it would operate properly

This heating cable uses a single thermostat to control the entire length of the cable. It is critical that the thermostat for this system to work properly. The thermostat is covered by heat shrink and slightly protrudes from the cable where the power line and heating cable meet. This thermostat should be placed up against the pipe in that region that is most likely to be cold, and then the rest of the cable wrapped as desired. This can be problematic, and was in my case, as the cable was longer than needed. But once this is done, this heating cable works well and keeps the pipe from freezing.
