No special tool is required, Break-Away nuts are installed using a standard wrench. Zamak 5 Break-Away nuts are light-weight, rust proof and corrosion resistant. Break-Away nuts are suitable for applications where removal of a fixture is not intended and when prevention of tampering is important. After tightening to the proper torque, the hex head breaks away leaving a conical shaped tamper resistant nut.

These worked really well. They stayed together for proper tightening. Yet were also very reliable torque wise, twisting off just right, and with a high level of consistency.The only thing I might have wished for was a stainless steel variant.I used them on my truck's exterior so with time, they may rust. But not so far, and this after several major rain and heavy winter snow storms. Everything else, other than these and some stainless steel parts, did rust quickly!They provide that extra theft deterrent which I really needed. All you can really do is slow a determined thief down. These are not exactly something they would expect to run into. And then they just MIGHT give up!Especially if they can't get a simple pair of vise grips fitted on, to actually turn and remove them.They were perfect for my application! They broke off at just the right torque for the size of bolt employed. Consistency counts!

Quick to install, only downside would be to undo if you ever needed to.

Works well and is easy to install. Used as a security nut and is still holding strong after a month of vibrations. Highly recommend.
