Ok, This is a switch, so I'm going to skip all of the colorful language, and get to the details. I gave it 5 stars because it deserves 5 stars. if I can break a switch with my bare hands, It'll get 1 star. If it doesn't switch properly, it'll get no stars. This does what it's supposed to , and does it well.. End of story! If you need a switch like this, You want to know what it'll do for you, and if it'll survive normal duty. This switch will survive Heavy Duty, Jury Duty, Active Duty, Howdy Doodie, and..... I've got nothin' else.... Just trust me.. it's solid!I tore it down for you in the photos, and used My calipers to give you the measurements. I hate when I order a switch not knowing it's actual clearance requirements.A couple of the measurements are a smidge on the + side, as I was trying to hold the switch, My Phone, and calipers all at once. It's all metal except for the fiber board back. It's made of stamped steel, brass, and has a cast aluminum handle. (it's not magnetic, so I assume it's aluminum)I'm going to repeat this several times, because I want you to understand that It's a very strong spring in this switch. You have to activate it with purpose. It does not "click" when it contacts. It's spring loaded, and from center to it's switched position offers tension the whole way. If you don't grip it when you turn it, well.. you're not going to turn it.... Accidental operation is pretty much next to impossible. For machinery, I consider that mandatory. The contacts are beefy! and I mean beefy! I assume they're metric screws, I'm going to say 5mm. There is zero chance of snapping a contact off. You'll be able to really wonk down on the connections. It's not waterproof, but if you install a big flat rubber washer under the lever, I don't really see how rain, or even washing could bother it.It takes a 12mm hole with flat sides, so it will fit a 1/2" hole as well, but this thing is so strong, that I can imagine it would rotate the whole switch if you used a standard round hole. A flat sided hole would be best! It's large for a switch, so make sure you have clearance in whatever you're installing it in.I got it because I needed a switch that could take a few amps without cooking. This says it's a 50 amp switch, and I have no doubt that it's going to take all of that.I'm installing it on a walk behind electric forklift so I can raise and lower the forks while standing on a pallet.Don't laugh! yes, I use My forklift as an elevator, because carrying a 3hp electric motor down a 12' step ladder is sketchy. All in all, if this is the type of switch you need, you won't be disappointed with this one.It would be great for operating a winch, Chain lift, Dump Trailer, conveyor, or anything else that requires forward / Reverse, or Up / Down control.I don't mess around when it comes to my equipment. I appreciate a strong switch. This one feels like it'll last forever, as a $35 switch should. This is not the type to come in a pack of 5 so you have 4 spares. Unless you're trying to pull a constant amp load in excess of it's rating, this switch will probably out live the two of us!

I'm using this switch to operate a 12V motor the raises and lowers an awning. It's important to know that this switch is a momentary switch. You turn it either direction, but then you need to hold that switch in that position till the operation is done. It doesn't stay in either direction if you let go of the switch, it will return to the middle neutral position. If you have the skill, you could put a relay into your design, one that when activated keeps the current ON, and then OFF by just hitting that switch either direction. In my case I'm keeping it simple. I hold the switch one way to close the awning, and the other way to open it.It is only rated at 1 amp, but it sure LOOKS beefy enough to be able to handle more. I would not however, as the contacts inside may only be rated for 1 amp of current. How long the switch will function remains to be seen, but for now it works as advertised, and works fine. Thus, I give it five stars.
