I thought this failed after 3 years of use, ordered a replacement, and discovered the replacement also did not work … because it was a wiring problem. 🤦🻠Fixed the wiring and the power supply still works fine.

I, like a few others, received a dud when it was delivered. Since it is the only manufacturer/uni available anywhere, I ordered up 2 more. One of those worked fine and I am returning the other. Seems to work just fine but I can't speak to the longevity yet.My advice: If you need one of these, order two to be safe. If it works, return the other. Unless you have time to order another if your first is a dud.

These are really easy to install and will work but they won’t last long. I’ve put 2 in both of my light fixtures replacing the original parts in the last year and one has gone out again. I found that if they delay the lights from turning on or hum when the lights are turned on they are going to burn out fast. They are cheaper than replacing the light fixture but you’ll be swapping these out frequently.

The step down transformer went out in the bathroom cabinet. I was able to splice in this one for the old one, and use the original electrical hookup connector for the four halogen light fixtures. The cabinet manufacturer said they didn't use this brand anymore, but would get back to me if they could get the whole transformer and connector unit. Never heard back of course. None of the new halogen light kits at the hardware stores used a same sized opening to mount the new individual lights, either smaller or larger which I didn't want to hassle with. This worked out great. I just snipped the wire between the transformer and the halogen lighting connector, spliced in the new transformer matching appropriate wires, and works like a charm. Hope it lasts the 15 years the old one did.

Specs on this transformer say they are the same as my original IKEA transformer. See pics attached. Only thing is it’s definitely not as bright as the original. In the pic with the pictures on the wall, it’s hard to see from the photo, but the one on the right has more of a yellow dim to it as opposed to the original on the left which is more vibrant.

I needed to install a 12-volt halogen "spot" lighting system to replace 110v halogen spots in order to save $$.It did take some research to clarify that I required a step-down transformer and not an LED transformer. Halogen lamps require higher watts and amps.I read various reviews about colour coding confusion, calling electricians etc., but this is not my number one concern. Not once did anyone write that they purchased a unit with ULC and CSA approval. If anything goes wrong, the first thing that an inspector will look for is approval registration. This unit costs more, and even though it is from overseas, it is still CSA-approved.Very few for sale on Amazon are registered units.I do not know many electricians tat will install a non approved unit.

I had previously ordered a lower cost transformer and found it was defective, leaving me quite frustrated. This unit arrived quickly and fit perfectly and most importantly lit up my halogen lights when first powered on. Thanks!
