4" long and very strong. They will pretty much hold anything together that you can insert them into.What may also be important to some people is they are black and attractive . If you are using them where they will show is a nice feature.

They're HUGE!. Okay, I knew that. But I did expect them to be sharp enough to pierce flannel, which is what I bought them for. They are sturdy. They are easy to use. They were a good price. But the point is very dull, so I only gave them three stars.
