I often illustrate craft-related items and techniques to accompany my writings, so I ordered this set to see if I could stage the hands as if they were holding tools in a setup that mimics a real work environment. The hands are of high quality and articulate well, but they are somewhat limited in how accurately they can replicate the wide range of finger and palm motions and flexibility found in a real hand. While they excel as still-life objects and are visually appealing as decorative items, they fall short for my specific purpose. I may need to explore modern plastic anime hands, which offer more realistic articulation, for the level of detail I require.

I'm really impressed with these wooden hands. I love that they come as a pair, and the fingers are very easily posed, though they stay where you put them. There's no real side motion to them (so you won't be wishing anyone to live long and prosper with these) but forward and back is very smooth and works great. They have a good, solid, weight to them and I think they'll stay where you put them. Very glad I got these! They're just what I needed!
