This is just like the bound version I have been using except it can lie flat. A fine point sharpie will bleed through somewhat but not anymore than my old Avery National Brand bound version. I like that the grid is on both sides of the page, the pages are numbered, there's a block for a heading and margins.

I was looking for a high quality, spiral bound notebook for calc 1. Something I could do all my homework problems in and keep everything neat, and readable. I also didn't want bleached white paper which IMO, causes eye fatigue.Paper quality: As another customer stated, that paper quality is good, great even. It's thick enough that I can use a quite runny pen (Black Pilot G-2) and it doesn't bleed through the pages at all. It's also a light enough pigment, that pencil markings are still very readable. So far no issue with the print on each page, and having the pages numbered is great.Cover quality: Could be improved on, but it's kind of the last of my concerns when buying this notebook which sits on a desk at home mainly. The plastic cover is pretty thin. In fact, I'm almost positive it is just laminated cardstock paper, so eventually the corners are going to get bent, worn, and the cover plastic will basically totally separate from the cardboard beneath it. The label is also just a paper label, not actually part of the plastic - which does mean that you can write on it at least.Binding: Seems solid, hasn't bent on me after tossing this book around in my backpack for a few weeks. Pages are not "clean-tear" or whatever.It's a great notebook for what I need, I wish the cover was more robust so I felt more comfortable having this in my backpack for like a year. But my guess is constant banging on the corners will eventually cause the cover to come apart. Whatever, it's probably the best notebook of this kind on amazon.

The pages are put together upside down or the cover is put on upside down. Either way the front page and the pages are not a line correctly. Quality is good though.

Like others have said, the front and rear cover are very flexible, not rigid at all, but just right for my purpose.

This is an objective review based on my use of this product.I ordered this set of 2 Computation Notebooks for my husband Jim (an Architect) and I (an Insurance and Tax Consultant) to use in work projects, and also for me to use with craft and recipe development notes and projects. The notebooks work out perfectly for those uses.- The notebooks are modeled after the true old fashioned Computation Notebooks. Same color of paper (faded yellow), coiled binding, and page numbers stamped in the upper corner of each page. Even the font of the page numbers is old fashioned.- Sized as advertised.- Nice weight of paper to support your writing utensil.- Pages easy tear from coil binding for removal.- Nicely sized and easily visible grid pattern.I highly recommend these Computation Notebooks for professional, school, and around the home use.

This notebook is useful for engineering sketches and notes. I like the layout and the paper. The only criticism that I have is that the covers are extremely flimsy and they don't do a great job of giving any structure to the notebook so the books just kind of flop over when you hold them in one hand. I do not like that and would have preferred stiffer card stock like you'd find on a standard notebook.
