I needed a 1"-14 castle nut to repair my brush hog. The specialty nut for this application was generally available for $15 and up. The nuts I ordered were much thinner, but came 2 in a box with washers and cotter pins. I was able to use 1 washer and both nuts stacked on each other to get the correct height to install the cotter pin after tightening. Best of all, I could get this set for a little over half the cost, and I got the parts overnight with Prime. This allowed me to get back up and running in only 1 day instead of waiting for 5 days delivery.

Have no idea why my original Castle nuts cross-threaded, in the process of replacing brakes and bearing however, these nut were used for replacement after straightening threads out with DIE 14-NF used for re-treading rather than new threading.

This kit fits perfect on a standard 3,500lbs. utility and travel trailer axle. Good item to have on-hand just in case. Torque to 60-foot pounds then back off (loosen) to line-up for cotter pin install.
