- It is equivalent to compressed oat bread, but at the same time it has much less sugar and is healthier.

Now, I purchased these out of curiosity of what these really taste like. The price was much lower than other emergency survival bars so I took a chance.I liked that they claime that these have a twenty year shelf life . This is x4 the shelf life of the typical US Coast guard approved products i.eDatrix brand (which is five years - haven't tried those either)Great outer plasticized foil vacuum packaging. The individual bars inside are tightly sealed in plastic film. After trying two small bites that's all I needed.. I wouldn't say they are unpalletable. I would say they were flavorless compressed powder that could be described as 'sandy' They are truly an item to promote survival during a disaster or Emergency but they won't make you any happier when you eat them.

The oat energy bar is a perfect addition to my emergency kit. It has plenty of nutritional content to supply energy along with other meals. It’s compact and has a 20 year shelf life. I won’t worry about the taste during an emergency as long as it does what it’s suppose to.

I bought this as insurance in case of emergency, so I haven't tasted it yet ( and hope to never have to). I will be sending some along with my daughter on her off grid camping trips and hope she never has to either:)
