Many patterns are included within this book, nicely photographed. I borrowed this from the library before buying it, that's how much I like it. It's a fine value and resource. One great aspect is that each pattern comes labeled with difficulty level. The book is very well organized, with knit patterns on the left-side pages and crochet patterns on the right. There's only one drawback: each pattern comes with the number of stitches needed to make a swatch of the motif, *not* the actual number of stitches required for a specific project, so readers must figure the number of "stitches across" on their own, by using multiples of the swatch pattern. (This is not difficult.) Additionally, several "projects" are included, telling you exactly how to create the item pictured. If you're looking for a wide variety of effects and alternate ways of creating a pattern, then this is for you, regardless of skill level. The stitch guide and an explanation of yarn types are useful. Altogether, at this price point, the book is unbeatable!

I love the layout. This is a great book for knitter's and crocheting. I'm new to crocheting and found this book very detailed. I'm very happy withy purchase. The color wheel is awesome..it explains how to choose color for your projects. Patterns are well written and clear. I believe advanced or newbie will find this book filled with knowledge.

I am enjoying this book very much. Mostly, I crochet, but some of these knit ripple stitch patterns are hard to resist. I may just get the rusty old knitting needles out again. The instructions are easy to understand. I bought another ripple stitch pattern book awhile ago and could not figure out the patterns. Even the beginner ones. It was written in English, but didn't make any sense. This book makes sense.I agree that there aren't 200 different patterns. The title is misleading although I think there are enough patterns to keep me busy for quite a few years,

This book does not have 200 patterns. It would be more accurately titled “84 Ripple Stitch Patterns with 116 Color Variations.â€I’m hoping that the first pattern I’ve chosen is an exception to an otherwise well written book, but so far I’m not happy. The pattern I’m speaking of uses crocheted puff stitches, but the writer lists it as “hdc3tog into next stitch†which is much more confusing than simply writing “puff stitch.†It also says to “sc into each ch-1 sp†but the majority of the chain spaces in the previous row are ch-2 spaces. So is it one or two sc in that space? Suffice to say I had to frog more than once, and I’m only three rows into my afghan. If I had been aware of these things before I purchased this book I would not have done so.

I was really looking forward to this seemingly abundant, well-presented volume of ripple stitches.I was shocked though to see that there are no charts at all accompagnying the patterns - in modern times a real no-go!I will not torment myself to "translate" the endless, bewildering written descriptions into well overseeable charts.Furthermore, there are really much less patterns in the book than stated - a simple colour-variation is declared as an extra chart. This I call cheating! Also, most of the patterns are quite "regular" and well known - which I would not mind, if some more spectacular waves ( as, for example, Steven West uses and I was longing for!) had found their way into this volume. But not at all.

After reading the reviews for this book I received it today. I have bought stitch dictionaries before and have been disappointed with them as they have been unattractive, difficult to read and have errors. This book does not. There is a very clear layout to this book with left hand pages for knitted stitches and right hand pages for crochet. It also features a guide on how to use the book at the front, and also a glossary and " how to" at the back What I really like are the variations on a theme. They feature the stitches in combination or plain coloured yarns with clear photographs and instructions. Hats off to the author and publishers. I look forward to using this book in the future.
