  • Built-in linear sawtooth oscillator with only two external oscillating components (resistance and capacitance)
  • Built-in 5V reference voltage source
  • Built-in power transistor provides 500mA drive capability
  • Built-in error amplifier
  • Integrated all pulse width modulation circuits

The TL494CN is a PWM Control Circuit incorporates all the functions required in the construction of a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) control circuit on a single chip. Designed primarily for power-supply control, this device offers the flexibility to tailor the power-supply control circuitry to a specific application.
The error amplifiers exhibit a common-mode voltage range. The dead-time control comparator has a fixed offset that provides approximately 5% dead time.
The on-chip oscillator can be bypassed by terminating RT to the reference output and providing a saw tooth input to CT or it can drive the common circuits in synchronous multiple-rail power supplies.

Was able to make a fan controller with this. Happy with it

These chips were easy to configure to multiple projects, it has simple resistor/capacitor on-chip oscillator, two independent error amps to configure the chip to your liking ( i.e. : final voltage and amperage control , or whatever specific aspects). This chip seems to be stable and functional through a wide range of voltages, although 7 volts through 40 volts appears to be its maximum range. As far as I can tell, these are authentic chips, being that I have found others that were cheaper but didn’t seem right.

These chips appear to be the real deal but when I test them in a known-good circuit they refuse to operate over about 50kHz, they should be capable of 200-300 kHz without much trouble.A genuine TL494CN that I have operates up to 400kHz in the same circuit.Useless for my application that needs to operate at 100kHz.
