I was fixing a friend's chainsaw and it just wouldn't run well. I suspected the points and condenser system buried under the flywheel but wanted to upgrade to electronic ignition anyway, so I bought this, cut the wire to the points and connected it to this little unit, attached the unit to one of the coil bolts, and voila! The chainsaw ran like new! I like that there's only one connection to make as the unit is grounded internally, and it's small enough to fit in tight spaces.

Installs very easily. Unplug a wire and remove a screw. Then screw the new one on and plug the wire back in to it. And done. Literally a 60 second, easy replacement. It controls ignition spark and timing so this tiny ignition module is essential to the engine running properly. So I had a Kawasaki 17hp engine barely running and hard to start. After installing the new module the engine ran like a top! I'm just amazed that Amazon carries this part! And it is inexpensive also. If you own a John Deere 265 I recommend you buy a few of these so that you'll have one on hand if it fails. The most common problem with this engine is this module failing after about 50 hours or so on the engine.

Points work well, when they work. That "condensor" is an electrolytic capacitor, it was born to die. These work on all sorts of engines, look around for tutorials. Taryl Fixes All on youtube did a Stihl 031.Cheap old saws and other equipment can be rescued at minimal cost, and use a common part.Maybe we don't have flying cars yet, but this little ignition module is a win for tech, and the user.

This igniter restored my mower to running condition. It runs so well now I have no further starting issues! It saved me a ton of$$ over a factory part and I am pleased. I hope it continues to work well for many years.
