These have some sort of coating to make them super shiny but it makes these extremely difficult to engrave without turning them a nasty rust color and when you finally get through that layer, you better hope you want the engraving to be an ugly dark grey color or some funky color. You can't get a silver finish or a light grey with these. They are inconsistent and while initially they are shiny and pretty, they will end up giving you a huge headache and you'll be wasting a lot of hours trying to get these to work. There are way better options in the same price range elsewhere on Amazon. Do not recommend if you plan to do any engraving or etching.

Inconsistent metal color for deep engraving. If you are looking for a coin to use with a fiber laser, then find another product. These coins are better suited for laser marking not engraving. I engraved six coins with the same setting and got four different results. Colors from dark black to copper to bronze. Even after cleaning passes. I expected to get a different color once I engraved past the plating but I wasn't prepared for inconsistent results.I will not be recommending this product to my friends.

Coins look beautiful, but the mirrored finish make them impossible to engrave using a fiber laser.

I purchased these coins to laser engrave a design onto. I found that the plating thickness was very thin and inconsistent. I had to keep turning the power down so as not to burn through. Just when I thought I had the settings figured out, the next coin would have a spot burn through. I will not be buying these again.
