Stainless has a tendency to gall and fuse together. This one is hot dipped galvanized and should allow it to be adjusted throughout its life. I can't speak to its longevity as it's only been in use the past two months to take the sag out of a gate. I'll be happy to update this review if it fails prematurely.

My deck had a bit of a shimmy when I would walk on the far end. A builder suggested that I put cross beams diagonally from post to post to keep the shimmy to a minimum. I talked to a neighbor who's a building inspector and he told me to run cables the same way and to use turnbuckles to be able to adjust the tightness of the cable as the temperature changes and the cable length changes. These turnbuckles worked perfectly. They were easy to install on my premade cables with the through bolts. They adjust very easily. I'm impressed with them. I'm going to order two more sets to run up two more posts. Great stuff!

I ordered these turnbuckles to tension a sun shade I was hanging up. These are very easy to install with the removable pins. They are strong and well made and will give years of dependable use.

Got these for hanging an tensioning a shade sale over my pool. They are plenty tough enough for that job and work well.

Turnbuckle Hook and Hook-2Pack 3/8 * 6Inch M10 Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel Jaw and Jaw Turnbuckle, 1200 lbs Working Load Limit Heavy Duty Turnbuckle for Tractor Sun Shades Cables Outdoor String Light.These are a little better than average turnbuckles. The ad states they are “hook†and “hook†which they obviously not. Also states that they are “jaw†and ‘jawâ€. It is a jaw type connector with secure pin and cotter pin retention. I don’t have any way of testing that they will hold up to 1200 lbs of stress but they look plenty strong for anything I will be using them for. The galvanized coating doesn’t look the best quality but it is coated. What matters to me is the threads are tight. No wiggle to them, and they move smoothly throughout, no burrs. The body of the turnbuckle is thick, having the appearance that it won’t crack and break. The range of extension is from approximately 12 inches to 17 inches.

These turn buckles work quite well. The ends are well marked so you can easily tell which way to turn them for either tightening or loosening.I did use them with a moderate (500ish pounds?) load and they weren't too difficult tighten or loosen. They were a little difficult to turn in a couple spots, but after threading the screws through as far as possible, some of the grittiness in the threads away. That grittiness does help them stay and not slowly loosen under tensioning and retention.The bolts for the ends have holes for cotter pins outside the nuts once they're screwed on far enough. The provided cotter pins are terrible and should be replaced if it's something you want to make use of, but the rest of the hardware provided seems great.
