The suction cups did not have the strengh to lift even a small stone once thin set was applied. This may work for 1/4" tile.

I used these to both adjust my countertops when moving them into place, and joining the seams on them. Obviously, they would not work for carrying the tops, as they are far too heavy. But I was able to set the stone on the top of the cabinets, attach the tool and move them to exactly where they needed to be. Given the weight of the tops, it gives you an idea of the amount of suction power. That said, I’m quite sure they would not hold up under the rigors of commercial use. I think they were perfect for someone like me: making a purchase on a budget to do one job, and loan them to a friend who may be performing the same job… if you are going to try tackling installation of stone countertops on your own, you cannot go wrong with these. You also cannot do the job properly without them.God bless
