Product Description

The Xiao R Geek HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Distance Measuring Sensor Module includes an ultrasonic transmitter, receiver and circuits. It has 4 pins: VCC, TRIG, ECHO, and GND. The anti-reverse pin header onside makes it easy to connect and apply.

HC-SR04 is great for all kinds of projects that need distance measurements, avoiding obstacles as examples.

HC-SR04 provides a 2cm-450cm non-contact measurement function, the ranging accuracy can reach 2mm.

Module working principle:

Pull the Trig pin to a high level for more than 10us impulse, the module start ranging.

The module automatically sends eight 40KHz square waves to detect whether a signal is returned.

Finished ranging, If you find an object in front, Echo pin will be high level, and based on the different distance, it will take the different duration of high level.

So we can calculate the distance easily. The distance=((Duration of high level)*(Sonic : 340m/s))/2

This review is for the Ultrasonic sensors, come with a nice package and both work as expected. The free standard shipping delivered the package from NV to CA in 4 days. Although the outside packaging is good, the inside is not ideal. The screws and cables are packed together with the ultrasonic modules in the same zip lock bag. Not only the screws are loosely bouncing with the modules during the shipment, but also one of the screw is stuck between the delicate crystal on the module and the mount. Couple pins are bent on one of the module and most likely from the factory. Great customer support and communication, without problem getting responses from them. The performance is typical with other ultrasonic sensors I purchased. Both can detect from couple cm and up to 180 cm (+- 1~2 cm) reliably, but hit/miss beyond the 180 cm. The price is not the most expensive nor cheapest, but it is fair if you are in a rush.

It works well with my Arduino. In my testing both modules are accurate to within 2 cm up to a couple meters, which is plenty for my purposes. I'm using the "NewPing" Arduino library to get the distance. I also appreciate the generous number of wires included with various combinations of male and female pins.
