We have a small pond with a waterfall and a few fish in the memorial garden at our church. These filter pads are used to keep the fountain going for aeration for the fish. Without these filters the pump gets clogged with snails and algae. The filters last about one week and then have to be hosed off. They can be cleaned about 3 or 4 times then replaced.

Original Pondmaster 1000 filters are twice as thick, but they seem to work. Looks like a one time use filter.
