Fabric is used as supporter of an ink-blocking stencil. Polyester has replaced traditional silk as the fabric of choice among screen printers all over the world because of its tensile strength, elastic memory and resistance to chemicals, abrasion heat and moisture. Polyester is woven from yarn that is extruded from heated polyester into a single strand. The extruded thread is the spun to a precise diameter.

I used this to replace the mesh on my silk screen and it worked well. I even used this to create a larger silk screen out of an old picture frame.

In store, I could buy a 14"x20" piece for the same price and this online. Clearly I'll go for the three yards! This piece of mesh is absolutely massive! I've made about 20 different screen print stencils and haven't even made a dent in the size. The mesh is a little more flexible than Speedball's, but once you stretch it over a frame you wouldn't know the difference. I can make any size stencil I want now, which is great. I've even used this without a frame, which is much more difficult to use but still very possible.

When ordering this I definitely thought it was going to come on a roll and I would only have to slice where I wanted to cut it as I went down the roll. Nope, it comes in one large 3‘ x 3‘ square, which is annoying as hell to have to cut up every time you need an 11 x 18 square (Or whatever size you need). The only good thing about this product is by amount you get, it’s def worth $10.
