These work great - I inserted the cable and placed a 5mmm steel rod on 1/3 mark and hit it twice with a 2lb hammer to crimp - did same on bottom 1/3 and the turned it over and did the same on the other side. Works as well as a $$$ crimper.

Aluminum Double Crimping Sleeve for 6 mm to 1/4 inch Diameter Cable for end loop termination or attaching a second cable to the primary winch cable to attain a dual cable winch. I used a Vevor crimping tool to connect the two cables in the attached picture using one of these sleeves.
