These SS hinges are plenty strong for most gates you have around your house. They glide to open and close pluse you can remove the gate simply by lyfting the gate up. These hinges are a pleasure to work with and do a nice job of dressing up your gate. I would recommend these hinges for anyone wanting to put gates around their home, office, or work area.

These are fairly beefy hinges. The pictures don't do them justice. I used two of them to hold up a custom-built (soft-wood/pine) half-door/gate I build to contain a toddler and dogs. The hinges are durable enough to hold up under the weight my three-year-old hanging his whole body on the door/gate.They DEFINITELY need (needed) some lubrication, though. When I first installed them, the sound of the metal-on-metal, as the door swung, amplified through the wood and just sounded "wrong". With the application of some heavy-duty lithium grease the now glid more smoothly and quietly.I will be buying another set to complete the second door/gate I have.

These hinges were exactly what I needed to fix a gate. I have a wooden gate that has sagged over time with old decorative type hinges. I needed something strong that would hold the weight of the gate. I used these in combination with 5/8" J pin hinges connected to a galvanized post. The setup worked out perfectly.The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because these hinges did need to be cleaned up a bit. There were burrs in some of the holes. Once cleaned up, they worked great.
