I was apprehensive about these balls, but I figured I'd take a chance. So glad I did. So far they have done an excellent job of catching, and holding a lot of debris during the opening of our pool. I have found them very easy to hand was, and also in the washing machine. SO much easier than maintaining the filter with sand! It does take a bit more hands on to clean them, but so worth it. No more possibility of sand getting into the pool. Highly recommend them.

Bought these when I realized filter sand is a mess and seems useless to use. Used these for awhile and can say it's worth it for the amount of nastiness it's picks up. I try to remove them every so often to give them a rinse and wash.After giving then a good rinse to get the main material and grim off, you can throw them in the washer and it pretty much looks brand new after. My recommendation, is get double what you need and then you can swap the balls Around to keep filter running, otherwise it can take awhile to clean the balls well, unless you have a spare washer to beat up with the grime these things store

When I bought a sand filter, I decided to use filter balls. These work great - I change them out once a month - put them in the mesh bag (I try to push out as much as the nasty water as I can) then toss them in the washing machine. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is that with so many balls, you really need 2 mesh bags to wash them in. With all of them in one bag they really don't get completely clean with one washing. I had to do 2 cycles - but I have another mesh bag at home so now I divide them up.

I installed these into a sand type filter as instructed. They seem to work for about two weeks before becoming too heavy and full of algae. I saw backwashing every 3 days to eliminate the build up of dirt and algae from the balls. The pressure would increase within 10 minutes and the suction would reduce by 70 percent. When I turned the pump/ filter off, the system was full of air and would belch out of the skimmer and vacuum hosing, blowing them apart. I waisted two and a half months trying to resolve this issue, which developed into a swimmable green pool. I finally removed these balls and replace them with pool sand and the air pressure issue stop and was able to remove the algae and green pool issue. Back to only backwashing every two weeks now. Wish these balls would have worked. Also, I did remove them 3 times and wash them clean, so that also didn't help the previous mentioned problems. Would not recommend this type of media unless you have time and money to waste.

These make having a pool and cleaning so easy! No sand no backwashing! Any time it’s raining or heavy use I switch the balls out once a week. In the bag you get there are enough for 2 uses. You can just rinse and reuse but I like to run it through the washer. I like this system!
