The filter is not held in place very well. It seemed the filter element needed to be just a bit taller to make everything fit snug. I had a large diameter thin rubber washer I placed on top of the filter and that held the filter in place and kept the lid on snug.Update, the element that came with it may have been slightly compressed/crushed. The sides are a bit wrinkled. One big plus is the compressor is very quiet now. I put up with the noise from this compressor for almost 40 years... Who new such a small change would make such a difference.

All I can say is I wish I knew these things existed a lot sooner. I have a compressor that was previously so loud, I’d turn it on in the garage and go inside until it was full. Man, this thing makes a difference! The silencer doesn’t make the compressor super quiet or anything, but definitely takes the sound down to a tolerable level. It doesn’t drive my family crazy anymore, so that’s definitely a plus!

For the price this filter is hot garbage and I regret not returning it before the return window closed.

This is about 3x the size of the standard intake muffler on my compressor, and it does two things: lower the noise level, and lower the pitch. The compressor is on the other side of a concrete wall from my wood shop, and was always annoyingly loud even there - I could hear it over a running table saw, for example.Now, I can still hear it run, but more as a deep rumble from the other room, as opposed to a barely contained screech. I love it.

The filter element does not fit the housing and rattles around inside loose.

It says it's 3/4" but it's bigger than that and doesn't fit

These did nothing to reduce the intake noise on my 5hp single stage 3 cyl pump. It is just as loud as it was before. They did provide me with larger filters i can replace vs the small crusty foam drop filters it had before.
