I used a knife to cut around it like you would if you were taking it off a bucket and pounded it on with a hammer. Went on fine and no leaks. Don’t forget to remove the pull tab thingy inside the spout if you plan on pouring.

As another poster stated - you need a rubber mallet to pound this baby on. Just pushing down on it won’t work! To be sure of a good seal - pound it down all the way around 2 or 3 times. But once you do that it works perfect - good investment!I should note also that you want to make sure the lid is installed in best position for pouring!

Was I having a "blonde moment"? Perhaps. It was hard figuring out how to get the spout pulled up! After staring at it for a while l noticed these little pieces of plastic that are connected to the larger round white middle. You have to break those 4 little tabs away with a pointy somethin'. THEN the 2 white handles you can pop up and THEN you can pull up the spout and twist the white cap off. I haven't GOTTEN to the putting it on the 5 gallon bucket of paint ... YET ... BUT I've got my rubber mallet (as suggested) to give it the old college try! Will update if I'm having another "blonde moment" with that. The rubber mallet should help! Some of the other reviews have helped, so hope this review helped too. I can't be THE ONLY ONE that couldn't figure that spout part out! Or was I? :^)

The fit is perfect for a 5 gallon bucket. It locks on nice and tight opening the twist cap is a little tricky for the first time opening it but then it's easy-to-use.

Fit perfectly onto a generic 5 gallon plastic bucket.Needed a rubber mallet to install - these don't simply snap on and that's good because you don't want these to fall off. Excellent design.

Excellent Quality, I purchased to replace a cracked cover on a oil changer bucket. The original was flimsy and cracked over time from the weight of the jabsco pump bolted to the cover. This cover is stronger and thicker.I am very happy with this purchase.
