Used this 3 times within a month of receiving. Worked good the first 2 times. 3rd time was a disaster. While winching my boat up the last foot (boat was still in water) the winch malfunctioned a retaining clip came loose causing it to bind and chipping a tooth off of gear wich sent pieces of metal into my hand. Spent next hour digging shrapnel out of my hand. Tried to return item that I’ve had a very short with no luck. Be careful if your using this winch

Built well, looks like it will work--dual speed is a little misleading in that it does not have a double reduction gear, only ability to release rachet dog and not have clicking or directional stop

Rated at 3400 lb. We put over 6000 lbs. on it. It held up great. The cable stretched, but didn't brake and the gears didn't strip out.

This didn’t work from the install, it’s made incorrectly, it uses bolts that do not go from one wall to the other wall for stability, it uses one single bolt on one side and every time you crank it, pulls the wheel off kilter and starts slipping, this is a dangerous item. This can cause bodily injury and it’s a huge safety issue.

Much better than I expected for $43. Looks to be well made and sturdy. Not the easiest to change the speed but, there are 2 speeds if you need them. You just need to unbolt the crank handle and move it over. Nice black powder coating and bright zinc plating to resist rusting. Good quality belt instead of wire cable. The belts are a lot safer/ more comfortable to handle in most situations. I really can't come up with any complaints or concerns with this hand winch. It looks like it will do the job with style. It also has a convenient cog/brake system. You can make it ratchet in, out or, free wheel just with a flip of the lever. The small spring will keep it in whatever position you choose. Nice bang for the buck with this item.
