These are industry standard and perform well for their intended use. Hi RPMs can cause the cheap knock offs to self destruct and spray pieces in all direction. I do not use these to surface aluminum engine parts with machine surfaces.

I like the Scotch-Brite discs but have never been a huge fan of their durability (or lack of). When used with a small, high-speed tool (as they're designed to be) they do a terrific job of cleaning the surface but at the expense of a very short lifespan. The high speed seems to degrade or melt the abrasive "curls" fairly quickly, but if you know that going in (as I did) then buying the large box makes sense.Don't get me wrong, they clean the surface great but they have a very limited lifespan.

We ove using these pads to clean large flange/sillicone seal surfaces such as differentials, axle housings, and other heavy steel type surfaces. I'd be timid on aluminum type as this is aggressive, but it will work if you're not a knucklhead with your die grinder.

I have been using the Scotch Brite Roloc pads on my die grinder for years. Polishing and cleaning is so much easier. After moving there is no industrial supply warehouse in my area. I was happy to see the discs offered on Amazon.Scotch Brite pads are superior to the knock off brands. I use Maroon, Blue, and Silver in both 2" and 3". I also use the Arbor mount pads enabling me to get into crevasses and tight spots. No matter if it is removing oxidation or just polishing the job is easier.

I have not used yet but would give this product 5 stars knowing the performance of the 2" 3M Maroon disk. If you use this product line you know its a great product and deserving of a 5 star rating. I didn't realize i ordered the 3"until i opened the box, I guess now i need to place an order for the proper backing pad! Woops!

These roloc discs are great for surface conditioning of almost all metals. Very convenient to use and a big time-saver because of the ease of use.
