I have older versions of this type of heat pad, and they really do help with germination and growth of seedlings in a shed or otherwise too cool area. I've generally felt that they didn't get physically as warm as needed and would rely on grow-lights in enclosed spaces to warm the microenvironment. These pads all get warmer than expected, ranging from 87* to 90* when measured under the pad. This might get too warm in some scenarios, such as tiny peat pots and enclosed areas, so I plan to use them for the bigger pots that I start the heat loving squash in. And I have a feral cat that will probably enjoy one this winter since they don't shut off after 2 hours like human heat pads do.

These work exactly as I have needed them to. I was a little worried with the long list of fire risks printed on them, but they have been on 24/7 for a few weeks with no issues. Keeps the water in my trays in the 80s and my plants are happy!
